Salesforce is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer for their Government Cloud infrastructure. The role involves ensuring maximum availability, performance, and security through proactive enhancements and troubleshooting. A key aspect is advanced prompt engineering to make AI outputs reliable and production-ready. The engineer will lead projects in design, development, and support of the platform, collaborate on CI/CD pipelines, and build high-quality software using AI as a core part of the development workflow. Responsibilities include designing and orchestrating systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows, contributing to shared system context for AI reliability, and evaluating AI-generated code. The role requires expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Linux systems, security, CI orchestration, scripting languages, and log management, with a strong emphasis on an AI-first approach to engineering and advanced prompt engineering skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. You are strong in solving Infrastructure related problems with code (with a focus on reusability) and you've mastered building compute capacity, worked on Kubernetes deployments at scale. You will be responsible for leading key projects in design, development, and post-release support of the Salesforce platform and tools that are used by a variety of internal teams to support our government customers.
  2. Collaborating with internal teams for efficient iterations of automated CI/CD pipelines with the goal of maintaining service owner feature velocity, solving and reproducing issues reported in Production environments.
  3. Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow by pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high-quality code.
  4. Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.
  5. Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably.

Skills

Required

  • AWS environments, including infra build and optimization
  • IaaS based TCP/IP networking protocols and associated components like transit gateway (tgw), vpc, security groups, and Route tables
  • 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)
  • 3+ years development experience in Infrastructure as code and config management such as Terraform and/or Ansible
  • 3+ years Linux system engineering experience
  • 2+ years developing or managing infrastructure and application security for Highly Sensitive Customer Data & Environments (IAM, CI/CD, PKI)
  • 3+ years experience deploying with a CI orchestration service (Spinnaker, Jenkins)
  • 2+ years working experience scripting/programming language (Shell, Python, Golang)
  • Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk / ELK
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc.) in development workflows
