Dft Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Hyderabad, India · Engineering

This role focuses on planning, building, executing, and delivering ATPG (Automatic Test Pattern Generation) patterns for complex SoCs, with a mindset of 'First Time Right'. It involves collaborating with architects and post-silicon teams, estimating effort, optimizing test time, debugging failures in simulation and on silicon, and improving DFT coverage. While the core role is in DFT engineering, there's a preference for experience with automating workflows and using AI agents, and a plus for developing/deploying them.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with Functional and DFT Architects, Post Silicon ATE Engineers, and Engineers from other DFT functions to understand patterns to be developed/verfied and to prove on silicon
  2. Build ATPG plan documentation, discuss and align on same with Architects, ATE Engineers
  3. Estimate the time required to develop init sequences, pattern geneations using standard EDA tools and any changes required to the test generatioin and verification environment
  4. Explore all possible opportunities, to reduce the ATE test time by delivering best optimal patterns
  5. Debug failures both in simulation and on silicon and root cause and fix the issue; work with DFT-Design Engineers to resolve any design defects and also correct any test issues
  6. Review overall DFT coverage; modify or add tests to get the max possible DFT coverage for each IP and for overall SoC.
