Digital Merchandising Manager

This role is for a Digital Merchandising Manager on the Apple Store Online team, responsible for delivering a magical, personal digital experience for customers. The manager will lead strategy, development, and execution of regional merchandising and storytelling initiatives, optimizing the e-commerce experience and driving strategic growth. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team, defining digital merchandising plans, driving cross-functional alignment, analyzing store performance, and understanding the customer journey.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Digital Merchandising Specialists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  2. Define and oversee the strategic development and implementation of comprehensive digital merchandising plans for campaigns and promotions, collaborating closely with worldwide DE&M, commercial, and marketing teams.
  3. Drive cross-functional alignment and collaboration with worldwide and regional teams to ensure local relevance and optimal performance in merchandising, covering navigation, content curation, and experience optimization.
  4. Champion data-driven decision-making by overseeing the analysis of store performance, translating complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations and strategic plans for continuous improvement.
  5. Lead initiatives to deeply understand the customer journey and champion strategies that significantly enhance the digital shopping experience on platform stores.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in digital commerce, marketing, customer experience, or digital merchandising, with a proven track record of strategic leadership.
  • Proven experience leading projects or initiatives, and ideally, managing or mentoring a team of specialists.
  • Deep knowledge and strategic understanding of China digital/social commerce platforms.
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin).

  • BA/BS in a related field or MBA.
  • Exceptional ability to problem-solve, develop creative solutions, and demonstrate strategic thinking.
  • Experience working closely with creative and UX teams to define and deliver innovative customer experiences and shopping journeys.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Adept at building collaborative bridges and fostering relationships with cross-functional and global teams, in addition to flexibly adapting to feedback.
  • Solid understanding of China e-commerce platforms, regional retail trends, including shopping behaviors, consumer preferences, and conversion optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with using platform analytics reporting tools, Adobe Analytics, and Tableau.
