Dimensional Engineer

Rivian Rivian · Auto · Normal, IL · Manufacturing

The Dimensional Engineer ensures vehicle components meet dimensional quality targets throughout the product lifecycle, leading dimensional control strategies for fit, finish, and functional requirements. Responsibilities include improving dimensional performance, supporting validation processes, leading variation reduction efforts, and conducting root cause analysis of dimensional issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Improve Dimensional performance of vehicles throughout the product life cycle
  2. Dimensional engineering PQ build objectives (Fit & Finish) of the final vehicle
  3. Support parts and system validation processes for all body geometry and proactively lead variation reduction efforts for the body shop (goal of achieving Cp/Cpk > 1.33 for all critical features and sustaining those levels through product life cycle
  4. Support Interior and exterior dimensional validation, using Cubes, Ring gauges & PCF’s
  5. Lead cross functional teams through Root cause analysis of dimensional issues in the plant, launch support & interfacing with suppliers to recommend and evaluate corrective actions and drive process standardization through documenting of projects
