Direct Materials Purchasing Manager

The Direct Materials Purchasing Manager at Johnson & Johnson will lead the purchasing team to ensure timely availability of materials and components for uninterrupted production. Responsibilities include people development, supplier relationship management, inventory optimization, component issue management, supplier capacity assessment, process improvement, financial support, and managing material distribution to external partners. The role also supports new product launches and planning for subassembly materials.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the Purchasing team to ensure the purchase order process is executed per established policies, secures timely availability of assigned materials and components to support uninterrupted production.
  2. Develop, recommend, implement and track inventory strategies for designated material categories to optimize stock levels, minimize costs, and always ensure product availability.
  3. Engage and drive close cross functional collaboration with Source, Engineering, Planning, Lifecycle Management, R&D, Quality, among others, to proactively resolve issues and safeguard production continuity.
  4. Identify and implement supply chain improvements through process optimization and digital tools.
  5. Support designated New Product Launches by ensuring timely availability of materials and components to enable successful validation activities and production ramp-up.

Skills

Required

  • BS in Business, Finance, Engineering, Logistics
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficient in Excel
