The Director of Business Affairs for Latin America will lead, structure, and negotiate agreements for original content development and production in the region. This role involves strategic partnership with the Head of Content, managing complex negotiations with talent, structuring co-production and third-party agreements, evaluating intellectual property rights, liaising with compliance, identifying tax incentives, and conducting regional risk assessments. The position requires a blend of business, relationship, and strategic perspectives to translate creative needs into contractual frameworks.

What you'd actually do

  1. The Director of Business Affairs will lead and oversee complex negotiations with key talent (including showrunners, writers, directors, producers, and cast), acting as a bridge between production and legal.
  2. The role will also play a central part in structuring co-production agreements and third-party partnerships, working closely with the content team to design optimal negotiation frameworks for incorporating external partners into original content, maximizing the strategic value of each collaboration.
  3. In the area of intellectual property (IP), the role will partner with legal to evaluate and structure projects involving multiple rights sources, ensuring the legal integrity and strategic robustness of each project, and defining the most effective strategies to secure the broadest possible scope of rights for the company.
  4. Additionally, the Director of Business Affairs will act as a key liaison with the compliance function when specific project characteristics create potential tensions with corporate policies, balancing creative needs with regulatory and compliance standards.
  5. The role will also be responsible for identifying and coordinating opportunities across Latin America related to tax incentives, rebates, and other financing mechanisms.
