Director, Chief of Staff-Enterprise Data

As the Director, Chief of Staff to an Enterprise Data product leader, you are a crucial strategic thought partner and execution leader, directly contributing to the success of the broader Enterprise Data Organization. This is a high-impact position that demands a blend of executive strategy, expert communication, and operational excellence. You will be an essential member of the leadership team, responsible for translating the high-level organizational vision into clear, focused, and purposeful ground-level execution, ensuring the organization operates with speed and clarity.
In this role, you will design the workflows, cultural norms, and high-impact routines that empower our teams to deliver successfully. By streamlining executive messaging, dismantling silos, and leading critical horizontal projects, you ensure our most vital resources are ruthlessly aligned with the strategic agenda.
**As a Chief of Staff, you will: **
- Serve as a strategic thought partner for our leadership team, helping guide the operations and management of the organization.
- Own the health and rhythm of the organization, ensuring team forums and routines run with discipline, clarity, and continuity.
- Understand the organization’s strategy and vision, lead the leadership to drive and track goals and priorities
- Drive the communication strategy for the Tower/Leader, providing context to the team and key partners, helping with building presentations and crafting the messaging
- Assist the leadership team with strategic planning including financial and resource planning in collaboration with key partners, including Finance, and HR.
- Develop context to identify and surface needs and risks across initiatives, partner relationships, and org health (engagement, morale) before they escalate.
- Lead high impact special projects critical to the organization priorities, emerging strategic intent or addressing key operational gaps
- Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand processes and drive results
- Partner with people leadership to engage, empower and inspire associates
The Successful Candidate will be:

- Highly collaborative (comfortable partnering with all levels of the organization) while working backwards from intended outcomes
- Experienced at identifying patterns and commonalities that can create a bigger picture out of small pieces, anticipating what’s around the corner
- Proven in practicing discretion while handling highly sensitive issues
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in staff management and training
- At least 5 years of experience in budget management
- At least 7 years of experience in organizational development and performance
- At least 7 years of experience in project or process management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or Organizational Development
- At least 10 years of experience in Project or Process management - Experience managing visible projects which require the ability to manage interdisciplinary team members, remove obstacles and influence appropriately
- At least 8 years of experience in Communications planning and development, including department communications, leadership team meetings, presentations, memos and reports
- At least 8 years of experience in Staff management and training
- At least 10 years of experience in Organizational development and performance

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Chief of Staff
New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900 for Director, Chief of Staff
Richmond, VA: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Chief of Staff
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
