Director of Cybersecurity - Cloud Security Architecture role at AT&T, focusing on leading a team of security architects and engineers to secure hybrid cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on AWS Outposts. Responsibilities include defining security architecture strategy, establishing reference architectures and guardrails, overseeing security controls (IAM, network segmentation, encryption, logging, etc.), ensuring regulatory alignment, and driving adoption of security automation. What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and develop a team of approximately 15 cloud security architects and engineers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  2. Define and execute the enterprise cloud security architecture roadmap for hybrid cloud environments.
  3. Serve as the primary security architecture leader for AWS Outposts, including secure deployment patterns, controls, governance, and operational security requirements.
  4. Establish security reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails for workloads deployed across AWS Outposts, AWS native services, and interconnected on-premises environments.
  5. Partner with cloud platform, infrastructure, networking, and application development teams to embed security into architecture and engineering practices.

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure security, or cloud security
  • 5+ years in a security architecture leadership role with direct people management responsibility
  • Experience leading teams of architects and engineers in enterprise-scale environments
  • Deep expertise in AWS security architecture, including IAM, VPC design, KMS, CloudTrail, Config, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and related services
  • Strong experience with AWS Outposts and securing hybrid cloud deployments spanning on-premises and AWS environments
  • Experience designing security controls for compute, storage, networking, containers, and virtualization platforms in hybrid settings
  • Strong understanding of security architecture frameworks, risk management, and control design
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional architectural decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent
  • Experience with zero trust architecture and modern identity security models
  • Familiarity with container and Kubernetes security in hybrid environments
  • Experience supporting regulated environments and security compliance frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR, CSPM, CWPP, and cloud-native security tooling
  • Experience building security standards and reference architectures for large enterprises
