Director, Data Center Strategy and Capacity Planning

Intel Intel · Semiconductors · Arizona, Phoenix, United States +3

This role defines and drives the multi-year infrastructure strategy and capacity plan for global IT data center environments, balancing performance, scalability, cost, and resiliency. It involves creating demand forecasts, scenario planning, identifying capacity risks, developing investment frameworks (CapEx, OpEx, TCO), and influencing enterprise-level trade-offs. The position also manages infrastructure refresh strategies, governs data for demand and capacity, and translates complex information into executive-ready narratives.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and drive the multi-year infrastructure strategy and capacity plan across our global IT data center environments, spanning on-prem data centers, colocation, and cloud.
  2. Define and evolve a holistic multi-year capacity strategy across on-prem data centers, colocation footprint, and public cloud platforms.
  3. Build integrated demand forecasts and lead scenario planning to evaluate trade-offs across rapid compute growth, burst demand, and power and space constraints, as well as hybrid and cloud offload models.
  4. Own multi-year infrastructure investment frameworks, including development of CapEx and OpEx projections and total cost of ownership (TCO) models.
  5. Establish and govern a single source of truth for demand, capacity, and forecasts, and drive quarterly executive reviews focused on capacity risks, investment priorities, and strategic trade-offs.
