Director Data Platforms

Johnson & Johnson Johnson & Johnson · Pharma · Raritan, NJ +3

Director of Data Platforms for Johnson & Johnson's MedTech division, focusing on building and scaling an enterprise-grade, cloud-native data platform (Lakehouse/data mesh). The role involves simplifying legacy systems, enhancing data quality and governance, and embedding AI/automation across the data lifecycle to accelerate insights and reduce manual effort. Key responsibilities include defining the roadmap, scaling data-as-a-product, maturing metadata capabilities, implementing self-service access, leading federated governance, owning MDM strategy, and building a distributed team. Requires extensive experience in regulated industries, cloud platforms, modern data architectures, federated governance, and embedding AI/ML into platform operations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and deliver the global roadmap for a cloud-scale, governed data platform (Lakehouse/data mesh patterns) that simplify the legacy platforms, reduces tool and pipeline redundancy and improves data maturity across MedTech.
  2. Embed AI and automation across the data lifecycle (ingestion, transformation, quality monitoring, remediation and operations) to accelerate time-to-insight and reduce manual effort.
  3. Scale a data-as-a-product operating model with defined ownership, SLAs, lifecycle management and measurable outcomes for curated data products.
  4. Develop and mature metadata capabilities — catalog, lineage and business glossary — to improve discoverability, trust and reuse.
  5. Design and implement policy-based self-service access patterns (data marketplace) that simplify consumption while implementing compliance.
