Director, Demand Generation

This role is for a Director of Demand Generation at Descript, a company that builds AI-powered editing tools. The primary focus is on defining and executing strategies to fuel pipeline and revenue growth across enterprise and self-serve business lines. Responsibilities include building and leading demand generation strategy, developing systems for pipeline generation, owning MQLs through multi-channel campaigns, partnering with cross-functional teams on funnel KPIs, mentoring a team, and enhancing marketing automation and reporting. The role requires 10+ years of B2B SaaS demand generation/growth marketing experience, with at least 3-5 years in leadership, and advanced knowledge of AI-powered marketing stacks. Experience marketing AI-native products is a bonus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build and lead the overall demand generation and growth marketing strategy, across enterprise and self-serve segments, aligning to Descript’s GTM and revenue goals. We’ve done this for self-serve. We need you to help us expand to B2B including standing up a lot of net new channels like events, partnerships, and community.
  2. Develop and improve the systems we use to scale pipeline generation, ensuring marketing is consistently feeding our growing sales organization.
  3. Own MQLs: direct and execute integrated, multi-channel campaigns that incorporate product positioning, audience insights, and creative from fellow marketing team members.
  4. Partner with leadership across Marketing, Sales, and RevOps to drive alignment on funnel KPIs; build the learning loops that power continuous improvement in our strategy, tool stack, and creative execution for awareness, nurture, and conversion.
  5. Mentor and manage a team of growth marketing professionals

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in B2B SaaS demand generation or growth marketing
  • at least 3–5 years in a leadership role managing teams
  • Proven track record of delivering pipeline and revenue growth
  • Deep expertise across acquisition, engagement, and nurture channels - including paid social, email, content syndication, and partnerships
  • Advanced knowledge of AI-powered marketing stacks and automation workflows (Cargo, Clay, n8n, Instantly Reply, or equivalent)
  • Analytical mindset with strong command of marketing metrics, attribution, and forecasting
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and present to executives
  • Strategic thinker with a bias for action - able to translate insights into scalable, creative programs that drive measurable outcomes
