This role is for a Director of Strategy within Microsoft's Experiences & Devices (E+D) group, focusing on defining the future growth and strategic direction of products like Microsoft 365 Copilot, Office, Windows, and Surface. The role involves quantitative and qualitative analysis, opportunity sizing, business model analysis, new initiative ideation, and competitive analysis. A key aspect is leveraging AI to enhance the strategy team's efficiency and impact, and defining the operational model for this.

What you'd actually do

  1. Product Strategy: Develop and frame product strategies and investment-ready plans in collaboration with product teams, business planning, marketing, and other disciplines.
  2. Resource Alignment: Inform allocation of resources to align with organizational goals, competitive pressures, and engineering execution across the Experiences + Devices organization.
  3. Market & Competitive Analysis: Identify opportunities, threats, and potential investments based on market trends, technology shifts, and competitor activities.
  4. Idea Factory: Identify transformative market shifts, forecast future trends, and develop actionable plans to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  5. Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Lead key strategy projects, orchestrate workstreams across E+D and partners, and drive alignment between leaders and product organizations.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 4+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • 4+ years experience in Strategy, Management Consulting, and/or Finance.
  • A solid track record of driving strategic insight, considering product, technology, marketing, business model, and third-party/partner perspectives.
  • Instincts for portfolio management, sound business judgment, and proven framing skills to support key trade-offs and decisions.
  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation with the ability to leverage both quantitative and qualitative analyses for decision-making.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and manage positive relationships with key stakeholders, including SLT/Corporate Vice President communities across engineering, marketing, finance, corporate strategy, business development, and external commercial partners.
