Director, Employee Communications

MongoDB MongoDB · Enterprise · SC · Remote · Global Communications

MongoDB is seeking a Director of Employee Communications to lead their internal communications strategy and execution. The role involves defining and implementing the internal comms plan, operating cadence, channel strategy, and quality bar to ensure employees are informed and aligned with company strategy. The Director will collaborate with various teams, lead high-stakes communication moments, and manage internal comms channels. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in internal communications, preferably in tech, with a proven ability to advise senior stakeholders and inform employees at scale. They should be a strategic operator, a master communicator, digitally savvy, and a proven people leader.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the strategy, prioritization and end-to-end execution of internal programs, from global events to daily updates. Your goal is to ensure the right information reaches the right people at the right time so the company can move fast
  2. Take complex technical or business updates and turn them into clear, authentic internal messaging that works for everyone, from engineers to recruiters
  3. Lead our Company Town Halls and other critical company-wide communication moments. We want these to be high-quality, interactive productions that employees want to watch
  4. Work closely with the People Team, Corporate Comms, and Marketing to run a unified internal communications program. You’ll ensure our messaging is consistent with our company narrative and aligned to leadership priorities and major business moments
  5. Manage our internal comms channels (Slack, intranet, video, etc.) and use analytics to decide how we best reach and inform our people
  6. Manage and mentor a team of communicators. You’ll set a high bar for precision and "roll-up-your-sleeves" execution while building team capability, strong editorial standards and scalable ways of working
