What you'd actually do

  1. Build the long term vision and provide technical leadership, while influencing and partnering with your team to architect, design and build the next great logistics platform that can stand the test of scale and availability, while reducing operational overhead
  2. Strategize and collaborate closely with Product, Data Science and Engineering teams throughout the company to drive and shape the technical direction, product vision and roadmap
  3. Balance the team’s portfolio across table stakes logistics capabilities and risky, bold bets which open up new verticals & potential future business lines
  4. Build a strong engineering brand for Uber Direct and attract, mentor and develop the talent in the team
  5. Build trust and foster a collaborative team culture and help grow the respective leaders on the team

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years proven experience building software across the stack (mobile, platform, data pipelining and ML)
  • significant experience working on marketplace problems and distributed systems for large scale products
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale realtime systems with high availability to support millions of users and/or high call volume
  • 7 years of management experience leading software engineering teams
  • Previous experience leading engineering and cross-functional teams operating in the logistics domain
