Director, Government Affairs

The Director, Government Affairs will shape the public policy landscape by representing Rocket before lawmakers, regulators, policymakers, trade associations, industry groups, and other key stakeholders. This role involves developing and executing government affairs strategies, building external relationships, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, and translating complex policy issues into clear business implications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Establish, develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with lawmakers, regulators, federal agencies, policymakers, congressional staff, trade associations, industry coalitions, and other stakeholders to advance Rocket’s public policy priorities.
  2. Develop and implement government affairs strategies that support Rocket’s mission, values, business priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
  3. Monitor, analyze, and assess legislative, regulatory, agency, and public policy developments that may affect Rocket, its clients, or the broader housing, mortgage, banking, fintech, consumer finance, and financial services sectors.
  4. Partner with internal business leaders and teams to evaluate policy impacts, coordinate company responses, and align advocacy efforts with enterprise priorities.
  5. Prepare persuasive communications, briefing materials, talking points, policy summaries, legislative updates, memos, and other written materials for senior leaders and internal stakeholders.

What the JD emphasized

  • Extensive knowledge of federal government institutions, agencies, legislative processes, regulatory processes, and policymaking functions
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with policymakers, regulators, staff, trade associations, industry stakeholders, and internal business partners
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, competing priorities, and time-sensitive policy matters simultaneously, with sound judgment and discretion
