The Director, HEMA Surgery EMEA is responsible for defining and executing Health Economics, Market Access, and Reimbursement (HEMA) strategies for the Surgery portfolio across the EMEA region. This role ensures alignment with business priorities to accelerate patient access and drive sustainable growth by developing robust health economic arguments and tools that support value demonstration, funding, and procedural adoption. Key responsibilities include leading health economics research (RWE, budget impact models), developing economic evidence and value narratives, securing reimbursement, and monitoring healthcare policy trends. The role also involves leading a team and managing budgets.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with key global, regional, and local external and functional collaborators to define and execute the EMEA Surgery HEMA strategy, aligned with business and portfolio priorities.
  2. Act as the strategic HEMA partner to Surgery EMEA leadership to ensure the alignment of market access activities with overall business objectives.
  3. Embed HEMA into regional strategy, lifecycle planning, and key investment decisions.
  4. Direct the design and execution of EMEA-level health economics research, including RWE studies, budget impact and decision-analytic models, care-pathway and resource-use analyses
  5. Lead development and dissemination of economic evidence, publications, and value narratives in EMEA markets

What the JD emphasized

  • Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics, outcomes research, or healthcare-related field is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the healthcare industry is required.
  • Strong technical background in evidence-based medicine, health economics, reimbursement or health policy with a demonstrated track record of success is required.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, the external marketplace and market access requirements in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region is required
  • A strong understanding of medical delivery systems, reimbursement, market access conditions and health policy trends in major global markets is required.
  • Solid knowledge of evidence needed to drive favorable reimbursement and market access is required.
