Okta is seeking a Director of Internal Communications to lead how the company informs, aligns, and inspires its global workforce, particularly around the company's AI transformation and its role in securing AI. This role involves shaping the internal narrative, creating consistent messaging, managing internal channels, and leading communications for critical moments and enterprise alignment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead company-wide communications: Partner with the People team to drive internal communications strategy and execution across major initiatives, including annual priorities, platform evolution, AI transformation, and operating model shifts
  2. Shape the narrative: Translate Okta’s strategy into clear, compelling messaging employees understand and remember
  3. Create the drumbeat: Build a consistent, repeatable cadence that moves beyond one-off announcements
  4. Own channels & content: Oversee internal channels (Slack, intranet, email) and ensure precision in audience targeting and reach
  5. Deliver moments that matter: Lead Company All Hands and executive forums—from narrative through production and delivery

Skills

Required

  • 15+ years in internal, corporate, and/or executive communications with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proven experience interacting with C-suite leaders
  • Experience leading communications through large-scale transformation in complex, global organizations
  • Exceptional storytelling and writing skills—you make the complex simple, clear, and memorable
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence at the highest levels
  • Operational rigor across channels, content, and large-scale events
  • A modern approach to engagement, channels, and employee experience

Nice to have

  • Experience in technology or SaaS environments preferred
