Director of Communications

This role is for a Director of Communications focused on external communications for Microsoft's AI models and research. The responsibilities include developing and executing communication strategies, partnering with GTM and marketing teams, building spokesperson benches, supporting senior leaders, and creating content for developer and research audiences. The role requires strong technical writing and experience launching new technologies, with a preference for experience with social media influencers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own proactive and reactive PR for Microsoft AI models and research.
  2. Develop comms strategies for new model releases that reach developer, research and enterprise audiences.
  3. Partner with Go-To-Market, marketing and social teams to create campaigns that showcase technical credibility of Humanist Superintelligence team.
  4. Build out spokesperson bench for storytelling efforts beyond model launches
  5. Support senior leaders with media prep, executive messaging, and high-profile speaking opportunities.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 12+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years specialized functional (e.g., retail, technology) experience.
  • 6+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role.
  • 3+ years experience working with social media platforms.
  • Experience working with non-traditional social media influencers in the technology space is preferred.
