Director of Hardware Product Compliance

Lead global compliance and certification efforts for hardware products, ensuring adherence to regulatory, safety, and quality standards. This role involves defining strategy, establishing governance, managing certification programs, and integrating compliance into the product lifecycle from concept to commercialization. The Director will build and lead a compliance function, manage relationships with regulatory authorities, and ensure product launches meet market access requirements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and evolve WHOOP’s global product compliance and safety strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  2. Establish governance models, standards, and best practices to drive consistent compliance execution across product lines and regions.
  3. Lead certification and regulatory programs across multiple product lines, from early development through mass production and global launch.
  4. Ensure compliance milestones are integrated into product roadmaps to support reliable and on-time market entry.
  5. Serve as the primary point of contact with international regulatory authorities, notified bodies, and certification partners.

Skills

Required

  • Leadership experience in a growing or global product organization
  • Strong working knowledge of international compliance standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., UL, CE, FCC, IEC)
  • Proven success managing certification programs across multiple products and geographies
  • Experience operating in environments with evolving processes and increasing scale
  • Familiarity with structured risk assessment and product safety methodologies
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to present clearly to senior leadership
  • Strategic, pragmatic mindset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Passion for developing people and building durable organizational capabilities

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
