Role Overview
The Director, Project Management Office (PMO) is a senior leader responsible for portfolio and delivery excellence across People, Legal, Corporate Tools, and Cybersecurity initiatives. This role leads a high-performing PMO team of 10 global staff and partners closely with business and technology leaders to ensure predictable, scalable delivery, exceptional user experiences, and measurable business outcomes aligned to Visa’s enterprise strategy.
As a key member of the DES leadership ecosystem, the Director drives portfolio governance, delivery reliability, and insights-driven decision-making across the full initiative lifecycle—from intake and prioritization through execution, change readiness, and value realization.
The Director will champion the adoption of automation, data, and AI‑enabled capabilities across the PMO and delivery lifecycle to improve predictability, accelerate execution, reduce manual overhead, and generate actionable insights—driving smarter prioritization, proactive risk management, and scalable delivery outcomes.

Portfolio, Program & Delivery Leadership
- Provide executive oversight for complex, cross‑functional programs and initiatives; directly lead or step in to run critical projects or enterprise programs as needed to ensure outcomes, speed, and risk mitigation.
- Establish and evolve portfolio governance models that balance strategic priorities, regulatory commitments, and operational capacity across People, Legal, Corporate Tools, and Cybersecurity domains.
- Drive consistent delivery standards while enabling flexibility for different delivery models (Agile, hybrid, and waterfall) based on business need and risk profile.
Resource, Capacity & Financial Management
- Own enterprise‑level resource and capacity planning, aligning demand, funding, and skills to strategic priorities across the DES portfolio.
- Partner with technology and business leaders to proactively identify capacity constraints, optimize utilization, and enable informed trade‑off decisions.
- Use data‑driven forecasting to support investment planning, sequencing decisions, and sustainable delivery velocity.
PMO Strategy, Operating Model & Governance
- Define and continuously evolve the PMO operating model to scale with business demand, maturity, and complexity.
- Ensure strong intake, prioritization, dependency management, and value realization practices across the full initiative lifecycle.
- Serve as the escalation point for delivery risk, portfolio conflicts, and systemic issues—driving resolution at the right executive level.
AI, Automation & Data‑Driven Enablement
- Lead the adoption of AI‑enabled and automation capabilities within the PMO, reducing manual effort and increasing transparency, speed, and predictability.
- Leverage data, analytics, and intelligent tooling to improve forecasting accuracy, automate reporting, and surface proactive insights for executives and delivery teams.
- Champion experimentation and continuous improvement through digital enablement, ensuring PMO practices evolve with emerging technologies.
Stakeholder Partnership & Change Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders, translating strategy into executable portfolios and measurable outcomes.
- Enable effective change execution by aligning delivery, communications, and adoption strategies to business readiness.
- Influence across organizational boundaries to drive alignment, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a global PMO leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and high performance.
- Build future‑ready PMO capabilities through skills development in delivery leadership, data literacy, and AI‑enabled ways of working.
- Set clear expectations, model inclusive leadership behaviors, and create pathways for growth and succession.
Metrics, Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Establish outcome‑focused metrics that measure value, predictability, efficiency, and experience—not just delivery activity.
- Use insights to inform executive decision‑making, identify systemic improvement opportunities, and drive continuous evolution of PMO practices.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
10–15 years with Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced degree experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience managing enterprise portfolios and/or complex programs within Technology organizations.
- Proven experience leveraging AI‑assisted insights, analytics, and automation to inform planning, forecasting, and executive‑level reporting.
- Demonstrated success leading PMO, program, and portfolio management teams at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior and executive leaders.
- Experience operating effectively in large, matrixed, global enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder partnership, communication, and influencing skills across business and technology leaders.
U.S. Applicants Only
The estimated salary range for this position is $186,800.00 to $ 299,200.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
