Job Description
Visa’s Global Token Services team is looking for a talented Director of Software Engineering. In this role, you will lead and manage a team that builds the next generation of Tokenization services with a passion for leading the development of world class payment services.
Based in Warsaw, Poland, in this role, you will build a new team, apply your deep experience as a people manager and technologist leading a highly motivated, and proficient team producing highly available, active-active, secure, and robust backend services. Superior people management skills along with ability to work effectively with product managers, program managers, architects, service integrators and cross-functional teams across the globe is required. You will be supporting initiatives that span across multiple geographies enabling acceptance of Visa in consumer payments, enabling new form factors and drive cross border acceptance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own development, quality, scalability and availability across multiple applications, features, and technology initiatives.
- Point of contact for senior leadership stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Create and implement goals and action plans to align with overall organization objectives.
- Emulate strong management and leadership principles with the capacity to engage, motivate, mentor and coach teams distributed across various geographical locations.
- Communicate and adapt presentations to various stakeholders regarding goals, planning process, project initiatives, team innovation and results.
- Implement, gather, and report team/project metrics to track execution and effectiveness
- Champion the responsible use of AI to optimize development processes, reduce manual effort, and improve team performance.
- Hire and on-board high caliber engineers within planned budget and timeline.
- Accountable for the quality of development activities during the release of products to production.
- Act decisively and collaborate to remove impediments for the team
- Partner with Certification, Release Engineering, Performance, Security and Release Management for timely releases and resolution of any impediments.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree or other related advanced degree preferred
Requires 12+ years of experience with at least 3 years managing and leading engineering teams
Extensive technical experience with developing backend distributed services on HTTP, JSON, Rest, Databases, Java frameworks
Strong Software Engineering background with a good understanding in multi-tier enterprise architecture
Proven experience delivering large scale, highly available production software
Working knowledge of AI and the ability to apply AI tools to drive productivity, efficiency, and better engineering outcomes.
A deep understanding of end to end software development in a team, and a track record of delivering software on time
Strong business and technical vision
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong automation mindset
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support organizational plans.
Ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs
Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way.
Ability to drive deliverables in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, working across a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Ability to create an environment of highly engaged, motivated and innovative team members
Payment processing background is a big plus
