Seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the transformation of Walmart’s Tax-Exempt technology ecosystem into a unified omni-channel platform. This role will drive modernization, consolidation, and scalability of tax-exempt capabilities, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. Responsibilities include defining and executing engineering strategy, driving engineering excellence, architecting for scale and compliance, accelerating business roadmap delivery, partnering across business and compliance functions, and building a high-caliber engineering organization.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and execute the engineering strategy for a unified Tax-Exempt platform spanning: Walmart stores, Walmart eCommerce, Sam’s Club stores, Sam’s Club digital experiences
  2. Establish and scale engineering best practices across architecture, development, testing, security, observability, and operational reliability.
  3. Lead architectural direction for enterprise-grade tax exempt systems handling high transaction volumes and complex compliance requirements.
  4. Partner with Product and business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into executable engineering roadmaps.
  5. Build strong partnerships with Tax, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Product, Operations, and Store organizations.
