This role leads the planning and execution of large-scale technical programs within Global Product and Design at Walmart, focusing on technology prioritization and strategic roadmaps. The Director will manage cross-functional dependencies, define system designs, mitigate risks, and mentor teams to ensure efficient resource allocation and the delivery of high-impact initiatives aligned with business goals. The role emphasizes data-driven insights, scalable processes, and innovation to meet complex customer needs.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the planning and execution of large-scale technical programs, managing cross-functional dependencies and resource alignment to meet delivery goals.
  2. Define and drive end-to-end system solution designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business objectives.
  3. Identify and mitigate risks, resolve ambiguities, and implement process improvements to enhance program efficiency and outcomes.
  4. Mentor and guide team members on best practices in program management, technical design, and stakeholder communication.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to secure buy-in, align priorities, and communicate program status through data-driven insights.

Skills

Required

  • Extensive experience in program and project management, including planning, risk mitigation, and delivery of large-scale technical programs.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex dependencies across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong technical expertise in system design, cloud infrastructure, software and hardware lifecycles, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing to align priorities and drive consensus.
  • Proficiency in defining measurable goals, analyzing data for decision-making, and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Experience mentoring team members and fostering high-performing, collaborative environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • 9 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice to have

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems
