This role is for a Director of Total Rewards focused on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) within Microsoft's HR organization. The primary responsibility is to lead compensation and benefits integration for acquired companies, ensuring alignment with business strategy and talent management needs. The role involves analyzing data, developing compensation strategies, and advising leadership on complex M&A-related compensation issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the compensation and benefits lead on M&A deals starting with strategy approval to due diligence and through integration.
  2. Partner with colleagues in Total Rewards, as well as the Microsoft Acquisition and Venture Success (MAVS) HR team, integration managers and all other functions within the MAVS ecosystem in deal work.
  3. Understand the strategy of a deal and analyze data from a variety of sources to develop a compensation strategy leveraging our current programs and influencing their future designs to ensure their alignment with business needs.
  4. Oversee, influence and conduct analyses (e.g., job evaluations, job classifications/job matching, total compensation analysis) using market data and internal/external measures such as surveys and polls to integrate/divest the target company.
  5. Act as a company-wide expert and thought leader in Compensation & Benefits (C&B) within the MAVS team and on deal; advising leadership on unusually complex, risky, and critical issues.
  6. Oversee the development and management of complex, high-risk projects by collaborating with internal and external partners and providing compensation consulting to leadership to inform major decisions and planning.
