The Director, Walmart Energy - Regulatory, provides strategic leadership to manage utility risks and advance an affordable, reliable, and clean energy system through regulatory and legislative engagement. This practice-leading role involves analyzing business objectives and regulatory proposals to develop and execute advocacy, submitting written testimony and being subject to cross-examination, managing a team, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external agencies. The Director also leads workforce development initiatives and fosters continuous improvement to advance Walmart’s energy and sustainability goals while maintaining operational excellence and integrity.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and implement energy strategies to reduce utility expenses and enhance sustainability initiatives.
  2. Monitor regulatory and legislative developments related to renewable energy and represent Walmart’s interests.
  3. Manage relationships with internal teams and utility companies, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
  4. Oversee talent development, workforce planning, and promote continuous learning within the energy team.
  5. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance energy and sustainability goals.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field and 5 years’ experience in utility operations or related area OR 7 years’ experience in utility operations or related area.
  • 1 year’s supervisory experience.

Nice to have

  • Certified Energy Manager, experience in building systems design, controls, or operations.
  • experience negotiating contracts or terms of service agreements.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field
  • Project Management Certification
