Whatnot is seeking a Disputes Paralegal for a 6-month contract role to support their Legal team. The role involves managing and triaging disputes, drafting responses, maintaining case tracking systems, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and assisting with workflow refinement. The position will utilize AI-driven tools to enhance efficiency and requires experience with legal support, strong communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with AI platforms and tech companies is a plus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage and triage incoming disputes matters, ensuring accurate and timely intake across a variety of claim types (e.g., demand letters, pre-litigation disputes, arbitration threats).
  2. Draft and send initial responses to users on behalf of Litigation Counsel, following established templates and escalation protocols.
  3. Maintain and organize case tracking systems to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  4. Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Trust & Risk, Customer Experience, and Legal Operations to gather facts and documentation relevant to disputes.
  5. Support Litigation Counsel in preparing materials for active matters, including organizing records, summarizing communications, and tracking deadlines.
  6. Assist with building and refining intake workflows and response playbooks as our disputes function scales.
  7. Utilize AI driven tools to improve efficiency and further refine workflows.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of paralegal or legal support experience, preferably in litigation, disputes, or a high-volume legal environment.
  • Experience with demand letter intake and response drafting, or other structured legal correspondence workflows.
  • Strong written communication skills — you can write clearly and concisely, and know how to calibrate tone for sensitive situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a large volume of matters simultaneously without losing track of details.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally and getting up to speed quickly in a new environment.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with legal matter management tools or case tracking systems is a plus.
  • Experience with AI platforms, such as GC AI, Claude CoWork, and Glean.
  • Prior experience at a tech company, marketplace, or fast-paced startup is a plus but not required.
