Netflix is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer for their Ads Member Experience team. This role involves architecting and building large-scale, low-latency ad delivery systems, optimizing ad performance for users and advertisers, and developing systems for experimentation and measurement. Experience in the ads domain and building ad formats and delivery systems is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify and build the ad formats that will define the future of advertising on the Netflix streaming platform, including live events.
  2. Drive the definition of such formats and how they are standardized across delivery platforms (TV, mobile, web).
  3. Lead the experimentation needed to make the experience optimal for both users and advertisers.
  4. Build highly performant advertising systems and deliver high impact to our business by monetizing our incredible slate of content.
  5. Build unique value propositions that help us differentiate from the competition and become a market leader in record time.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the Ads domain
  • Professional experience with ad formats and ad delivery systems
  • architecting and building large-scale infrastructure for real-time, low-latency, online advertising environments
  • understanding of the advertising marketplace and landscape
  • building systems that power sophisticated user experimentation, A/B testing and lift studies
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking
  • demonstrated product sense and leadership
  • developing systems that measure and optimize end-user advertising experiences

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with SDUI (Server-Driven User Interface) architectures
  • Experience building unique ad formats and ad products at scale across multiple advertising channels (CTV, DOOH, Mobile, and Web)
  • Programmatic advertisement experience
  • Contributed to an ads industry technology standard (e.g. VAST, OpenRTB)
  • worked on an industry consortium effort, working group etc.
  • Familiarity with legal compliance and changing landscape of ads regulations around the world
