Petco is seeking a certified Dog Trainer to enhance the bond between pet parents and their dogs. The role involves conducting training sessions, group classes, and providing advice on basic training and environmental management. The trainer will also engage with guests to offer solutions for pet needs, recommend products, and work with grooming and veterinary teams. This position requires expertise in modern dog training techniques and positive reinforcement methods.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct dog training group classes and private lessons with pet parents, educating them on positive reinforcement techniques and environmental management while providing guidance to strengthen the human-animal bond.
  2. Recommend and sell appropriate dog training classes, training, and supplies to ensure pet parents and their dogs have the necessary resources for a successful dog training experience.
  3. Provide an outstanding guest experience by actively engaging with guests in the recommendation and selection of merchandise and services in accordance with their identified needs.
  4. Work cross functionally with the grooming and grooming and veterinary teams to provide holistic whole health solutions for all pet parents.
  5. Complete and apply ongoing training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in the role.
