Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced aircraft mechanics to support a maintenance program for the Navy E-6B aircraft in Lake Charles, LA. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing various inspections. The role requires a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems, sheet metal repair, and the use of specialized tools and technical documentation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty
  2. Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
  3. Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals
  4. Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
  5. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills

Skills

Required

  • thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts
  • broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair
  • basic knowledge of electrical theory
  • thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers
  • ability to use a variety of manual hand tools
  • ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly draw
