Intel is hiring an E-Core (Atom) CPU Layout Design Engineer in Penang, Malaysia. The role involves driving the physical implementation of memory compilers, custom IP blocks, and layout partitions for future generation Intel Atom microprocessors. Responsibilities include assessing complex digital physical design assignments, working with circuit design engineers, debugging CAD tools, building and verifying physical design hierarchy, and partnering with SoC teams. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic/Microelectronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, with 3+ years of layout design experience. Familiarity with VLSI and CMOS logic circuit design, and proficiency in UNIX shell script, TCL, and Perl are preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Independently assess and drive complex digital physical design assignments across multiple design stages.
  2. Work closely with circuit design engineers to interpret schematics and drive physical implementation.
  3. Work interactively and proactively with our CAD team to debug tool functionality and bugs.
  4. Build and verify all levels of physical design hierarchy from leaf-level cell layout to block-level and top-level integration.
  5. Partnering with SoC teams and cross site design groups to ensure alignment, reuse, and consistency across projects.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic/Microelectronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in layout design.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Very Large Scale of Integration VLSI and Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) logic circuit design.
  • Proficient programming skills UNIX shell script TCL Perl.
