What you'd actually do

  1. The economists within PXTCS design and evaluate the systems that shape how Amazon's Operations workforce is hired, developed, recognized, and retained.
  2. They build predictive models, design causal experiments, and develop econometric frameworks that quantify tradeoffs and inform leadership decisions across talent programs.
  3. The team works at the intersection of mechanism design, causal inference, and applied measurement — partnering with applied scientists, product teams, and program leaders to embed science into the design of talent systems rather than evaluating them after the fact.
  4. The team also applies macroeconomic analysis and time series forecasting to anticipate workforce trends and inform long-range planning.
