Ehs/machine Safety Engineer - Environment and Supply Chain Innovation (esci)

Apple Apple · Big Tech · Cupertino, CA +1 · Operations and Supply Chain

This role focuses on EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and Machine Safety Engineering within Apple's supply chain, specifically for emerging manufacturing technologies. The engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing safety initiatives, conducting hazard assessments, and creating safety protocols to ensure compliance and mitigate risks in the supply chain. While the role mentions a "data driven approach" and "data-driven insights," the core function is safety engineering and risk management in an industrial context, not the development or direct application of AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Developing and implementing rigorous process and equipment safety initiatives and design standards for new and novel manufacturing technologies.
  2. Conducting early-stage hazard assessments and risk mitigation for new manufacturing equipment and processes using common risk assessment methodologies such as FMEA, HAZOP, PHA, Machine Risk Assessments.
  3. Developing safety protocols, procedures, and training for suppliers and internal engineering teams.
  4. Monitoring safety performance, reporting on key metrics, and representing Apple in industry-wide safety initiatives.
  5. Partnering cross-functionally with ESCI program teams, product design, material specialists, and automation systems experts.
