Ehs Technician - Shipyard (1st or 2nd Shift)

The EHS Technician supports environmental, health, and safety programs in a shipyard environment, focusing on inspections, waste management, safety procedures, and employee training to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support management ofIndustrial and Hazardous waste management including waste inspections, storage, handling, transport, and disposal.
  2. Support daily, weekly, or monthly Air-permit requirements, Hazardous and Industrial Waste, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control (SPCC) inspections and management tasks.
  3. Support program management of Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, Cranes and Rigging, Electrical and Battery Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, etc.
  4. Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for production and engineering processes.
  5. Provide EHS production lineside support with an active floor presence, proactive process improvement, and maintain strong production team relationships.

Skills

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate or associates degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a trade, boat, aerospace, or general manufacturing or industrial environments

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, public health, or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., ASP) or certificates (e.g.OSHA 10, OSHA 30)
  • Comprehension and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Ability to conduct hands-on work with strong attention to detail in hazardous waste management, emergency response, and/or exposure monitoring
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
  • 2+ years conducting training and education programs for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and software applications for data management and reporting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • General understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA/TCEQ and DOT requirements
