Electrical Engineer

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Sunnyvale, CA

Electrical Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical systems for consumer hardware and large-scale infrastructure. The role involves full product lifecycle management, from prototyping to deployment, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. While the role does not primarily build AI models, it requires integrating AI tools to optimize workflows and adhering to responsible AI practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own electrical development of complex subsystems or moderately complex systems, under guidance from technical leads or managers
  2. Lead schematic design, board layout, and cross-functional design reviews
  3. Propose innovative solutions to enhance system or product performance, reliability, and features
  4. Manage hardware bring-up, debugging, and support for manufacturing, assembly, or deployment
  5. Evaluate vendor reference designs and adapt them to Meta’s requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical field, and/or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience in electrical design
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and troubleshooting complex electrical systems or subsystems
  • Experience collaborating across engineering disciplines and with external partners or vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Nice to have

  • MS or PHD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years of industry experience in electrical design
  • Experience developing manufacturing tests for high-volume consumer products
  • PRQ or ECO process experience in high-volume consumer electronics
  • Experience with RF system design and integration
  • Experience with high speed signaling over MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, PCIe, USB SS and UFS
  • Experience with circuit design in high speed circuits, Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, and programmable logic based development
  • Consumer Electronics experience and/or working within a mass production environment
  • Experience designing for HDI flexible and rigid substrates for high volume cost optimized applications

What the JD emphasized

  • demonstrated track record of delivering/shipping high-volume products
  • Proficiency in interpreting and creating electrical schematics, designing physical layouts (e.g., PCBs or panel/plant layouts), and/or performing hardware/system bring‑up and debug at the lab or field level
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
