Electrical Engineer II specializing in Digital Hardware Design for sensor and effector products within defense systems. Responsibilities include architecture development, design, analysis, simulation, testing, and documentation of digital electronics circuit card assemblies, incorporating processors, FPGAs, and standard interfaces. Requires experience with schematic capture, PCB layout CAD, and lab equipment for integration and verification.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist with architecture development at the circuit card level.
  2. Design, analyze, test, and document digital electronics circuit card assemblies including embedded processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry standard interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  3. Partner with senior engineers and ECAD drafters through stack up definition, pre/post-route simulation (SI/PI), layout, and routing activities.
  4. Support integration and verification activities in engineering laboratories.
  5. Provide product tests and troubleshooting support.

Skills

Required

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with digital electronic circuit designs including processors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, and flash memories.
  • Experience with a schematic capture/circuit board layout CAD package.
  • Experience working with standard lab equipment for integration and verification testing of hardware designs.

Nice to have

  • One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
  • Experience with technical drawing packages for circuit assemblies.
  • Experience with tests and troubleshooting of circuit card assemblies in a lab or production environment.
  • Knowledge of a formal design process for circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience maturing a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level to development of a complete, verified hardware design.
  • Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) stackup definition.
  • Experience guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PCB layout and technical drawing creation.
  • Siemens Xpedition: xDX Designer, xPCB Layout, and/or Hyperlynx.
  • Experience communicating and documenting technical topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and/or small teams.
