Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer for their Intelligence Systems team in Reston, VA. The role involves full-cycle PCB design, including requirements, schematic design, component selection, layout supervision, bring-up, test, debug, and system integration. Responsibilities include designing hardware products, driving product maturity through prototyping and verification, implementing high-speed digital, analog, RF, and high-power designs, establishing DFM guidelines, conducting design reviews, low-level firmware development for bring-up and test, and root cause analysis. The role requires 4+ years of hardware product development experience, familiarity with PCB layout techniques, reading schematics, standard interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB), common MCU/CPU/FPGA devices, modern electronics, and E-CAD tools like Altium Designer. A U.S. Secret security clearance is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include understanding military environmental and EMC standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Full cycle PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and integration with the system.
  2. Drive product maturity through rapid prototyping, design verification, and qualification activities.
  3. Apply modern design standards and guidelines to create high-reliability, highly manufacturable assemblies.
  4. Implement combinations of high-speed digital, precision analog, RF, and high-power designs.
  5. Lead the team in establishing internal guidelines for design for manufacturing (DFM) and quality fabrication and assembly outputs.

Skills

Required

  • 4+ years of professional experience in hardware product development.
  • Full understanding of PCB Layout techniques to meet mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and apply best practices appropriate for each design.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
  • Ability to determine work priorities based on broad direction from management.
  • Experience using Altium Designer or equivalent E-CAD tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work within our company and team culture.
  • Must have an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of MIL-STD-810 and relevant military environmental qualification standards.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD-461 and relevant military electromagnetic compatibility standards.
