Electrical Engineer (sustaining/validation)

Skydio Skydio · Defense · San Mateo, CA +1 · R&D

Electrical Engineer role focused on sustaining products, supporting mass production, and performing electrical failure analysis on customer returns and field failures. Responsibilities include resolving system-level problems, validating components, driving design changes for reliability and manufacturability, and validating electrical components and PCBs. Requires strong electrical validation and test experience, root cause analysis skills for PCBA and system failures, and proficiency in analog/digital circuit design and schematic design. Familiarity with lab instruments and high-speed camera interfaces is also needed. FAA Part 107 certification is encouraged.

What you'd actually do

  1. Resolve issues by owning and leading deep, cross functional analysis on complex system-level problems
  2. Elevate quality through technical validation of components and subsystems
  3. Perform electrical failure analysis (FA) on customer returns, RMAs, and field failures to identify design, component, or process issues
  4. Own and execute design changes to improve reliability, manufacturability
  5. Drive electrical component and PCB changes and validation to address issues or supply chain changes
