Electrical Engineering Lead, Drones

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Tactical Recon & Strike : Launched Effects Engineering : TRS Electrical Engineering - General

Lead an electrical engineering team in the design, development, and delivery of autonomous drones and rocket motor systems for defense applications. This role involves R&D, prototyping, board design, system integration, and troubleshooting, with a focus on transitioning concepts to production.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead a technical team through concept to flight delivery for R&D/prototype design with a goal to transition to product line ramp up to production of new drones, rocket motor systems, and more.
  2. Guide the team through architecture trades, board design, implementation, troubleshooting and validation, supporting system level integration, flight test, and customer deliveries.
  3. Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and software debugging tools.
  4. Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products.
  5. Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and customer operated hardware.

Skills

Required

  • Lab-based prototyping / research and development experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex embedded systems and products
  • Demonstrated experience designing and integrating mixed signal circuits
  • Proficiency with Altium or equivalent ECAD tools
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current-probes, and automation of tests
  • Experience working on products used in extreme environments (aerospace, defense, etc.)
  • U.S. Person status

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated ownership of unit and subsystem level payloads or products
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience
  • Systems engineering and architectural trade experience with payloads or products
  • Proficiency with embedded software and firmware (C/Linux is a plus)
  • Experience with developing for a safety-critical environment (human in the loop)
  • Knowledge of software protocols for embedded development, including use of timers, interrupts, hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs

What the JD emphasized

  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
