This role is for an Electrical Engineering Lead Technical Manager responsible for safety-critical circuitry in Ignition Safety Devices (ISD) and Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (ESAD). The role involves leading design, development, testing, and program management from concept to production, with a focus on high-voltage circuitry and power management. While the company utilizes AI and autonomy in its broader products, this specific role focuses on the electrical engineering and hardware development of propulsion system components, not direct AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the design and development of embedded control electronics from concept to production—including hardware selection, schematic & PCB design, board bring-up, and system integration.
  2. Actively participate in the design and troubleshooting of high voltage circuitry (up to 2kV) and power management systems.
  3. Drive ISD and ESAD programs from concept to production by contributing to program planning and execution.
  4. Conduct design reviews with customers and incorporate their feedback into the development process.
  5. Manage day-to-day interdisciplinary technical teams while handling multiple projects concurrently.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years of experience developing ruggedized electrical hardware
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Technical expertise in high voltage circuitry design (up to 2kV)
  • power management and supply design
  • proficient with Altium Designer (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current probes, and test automation
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to travel for customer, safety board, and test reviews
  • thrives in fast-paced environments
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with the design and development of safety-critical systems
  • Experience specifically with ISDs and/or ESADs
  • Familiarity with software development processes and tools such as git, Github, JIRA, etc.
  • Experience working on products used in tough environments (automotive, aerospace, defense, etc.)
  • Proficiency with C
  • Knowledge of embedded software development, including use of timers, interrupts, hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs
