The Electrical Inspector role at Walt Disney Imagineering is responsible for overseeing and verifying electrical and automation installations on new Disney cruise ship builds, ensuring compliance with a wide range of specifications, rules, and standards. This on-site position involves detailed inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and wiring, as well as attending factory acceptance tests and reviewing technical documentation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Inspects electrical installations to verify conformance with, but not limited too: New building specifications, The shipyards general electrical requirements, Classification society rules, Statutory requirements, Flag State rules and regulations, Any International standards, Quality standards, Safety standards
  2. Inspection of installation and commissioning of cabling and electrical equipment.
  3. Verification that installations are in compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications and equipment manufactures recommendations.
  4. Examines parts and assemblies, such as control panels, motor starters and any other electrical equipment for completeness of assembly, quality, conformance to drawings and specifications.
  5. Inspect wiring of electrical equipment for accuracy of stripping, soldering, crimping, defects such as frayed wires and loose connections.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marine electrical systems, shipbuilding, or new build supervision.
  • Knowledge of classification society rules and IMO regulations.
  • Experience with ship electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, lighting, and safety systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical drawings, schematics, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of low and high-voltage electrical systems onboard ships.
  • Expertise in cable routing, switchboards, transformers, emergency power systems, and propulsion electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, automation, and control systems.
  • Understanding of shipyard processes, installation standards, and quality control procedures.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.

Nice to have

  • Previous involvement in shipyard inspections, commissioning, and quality control processes preferred.
  • Prior experience working with cruise ship new builds or major refits is highly desirable.
