Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Principal Electrical Engineer for the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. The role involves overseeing ground design of electrical components, attending technical meetings, supporting milestone reviews, coordinating electrical system engineering, conducting electrical analysis, developing LRU electrical designs, and managing product definition packages. Responsibilities include reviewing engineering deliverables, performing research, trade studies, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, and power systems. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree, a Secret DoD Clearance, and the ability to obtain SAP approval. Familiarity with industry/military standards and MS Office Suite is necessary. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of EMI/EMC, thermal management, wiring diagrams, BOM creation, IPC/WHMA-A-620, Siemens Teamcenter, ECAD tools, and DoD acquisition processes.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD
  • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
  • Familiarity with industry/Military standards and codes (IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEC 60332, IEEE 299, UL, NEC 770, ISO 9001)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for preparing technical reports, specifications, and presenting design concepts to stakeholders.
  • Experience with electrical designs and/or analysis of subsystems or components.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Experience creating wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) documents.
  • Strong understanding of cable construction, materials, and performance characteristics (e.g., voltage rating, current carrying capacity, shielding)
  • Knowledgeable of IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools for cable design (Siemens Capital).
  • Ability to perform cable sizing, voltage drop, and ampacity calculations using analytical methods or software.
  • Experience managing design revisions, change orders, and interfacing with cross functional teams.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities.
