Electrical Schematic Designer/concepteur De Schémas Électriques

Caterpillar · Industrial · Laval, QC

This role focuses on designing electrical schematics and system architecture for industrial equipment, primarily using PTC CREO Schematics. It involves creating detailed drawings, defining system architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role is within Caterpillar's technology division, which works on advancing technologies like autonomy and automation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, update and maintain detailed 2D electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings using PTC CREO Schematics.
  2. Create and manage symbol libraries, parametric data, and model templates to ensure consistency and compliance with engineering standards.
  3. Generate documentation packages including BOM’s, connector tables, wire/cable specs, and routing information.
  4. Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure accurate integration of electrical layout within mechanical constraints.
  5. Conduct design reviews and implement engineering changes through structured change control processes (e.g., ECOs/ECNs).
