Electrical Subject Matter Expert

Meta is seeking an Electrical Subject Matter Expert to support the design, operation, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure across its global data center portfolio. This role involves technical authority on high-voltage and medium-voltage power systems, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and critical power distribution. Responsibilities include driving electrical strategy, influencing standards, partnering with teams, serving as an onsite technical resource, contributing to safety programs, planning work procedures for troubleshooting/repair/maintenance, assessing risks, performing hands-on troubleshooting, evaluating system configurations and upgrades, providing QAQC oversight, leading root-cause analysis, training teams, managing vendor relationships, and providing feedback on maintenance and design strategies. Qualifications include 8+ years of relevant electrical industry experience or equivalent education/certification, working knowledge of critical facility operations, theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment and systems, experience with mechanical/controls/fire safety systems, blueprint interpretation, maintenance systems proficiency, and optional NETA/NICET certifications. What you'd actually do

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or trade certification in related field plus 4+ years relevant electrical industry experience
  • Working knowledge of critical facility operations
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Experience in comprehending plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Proficient with computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, email, and maintenance systems
  • Experience in the data center industry
  • Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenance

Nice to have

  • NETA or NICET electrical testing experience/certifications
  • Trade Certification or state license as an electrician
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
