Meta is looking for an Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their Data Center Facility Operations team. This role involves serving as the technical operations expert for electrical systems, covering maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training, and project oversight. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in power distribution, protection and control systems, UPS, battery systems, electrical testing, and relevant codes. Responsibilities include acting as an onsite technical resource, contributing to safety programs, authoring procedures, conducting hands-on work, overseeing system configurations and upgrades, providing QA/QC, leading root-cause analysis, training staff, managing vendors, and providing feedback on global strategies. Qualifications include extensive electrical industry experience, experience in critical environments, knowledge of facility operations, power equipment, and related systems, as well as experience with AI tools for workflow optimization and adherence to responsible AI practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operation
  2. Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local electrical team and applicable local and global teams
  3. Contribute to electrical safety program for site
  4. Plan, resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk
  5. Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipment

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant electrical industry experience
  • Experience in critical environments
  • Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Experience in comprehending electrical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Trade Certification or state license as an electrician
  • Instrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experience
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) electrical testing experience/certifications
  • Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience in a data center industry
  • Equipment field service engineering or representative experience
