Electrical System Integration Engineer

Design electrical/mechanical systems for diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel engines, including sensors, actuators, circuit protection, CAN networks, ethernet, ECUs, and telemetry. Collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and production facilities. Define product interfaces and protocols, collaborate with embedded software developers, validate software, and calibrate ECUs. Support production facilities and perform occasional customer commissioning and troubleshooting.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design of electrical and mechanical systems for internal combustion engines and electrification products which include sensors, actuators, circuit protection, CAN networks, ethernet, ECUs, and telemetry
  2. Product definition of electrical interfaces and protocols for integration with customer control systems
  3. Collaboration with embedded software developers
  4. Validation of software against requirements
  5. Calibration of ECUs in real-time on running engines and hardware-in-the-loop simulators

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Electrical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology curriculum, or Computer Science curriculum
  • 4 years of experience in electrical design or software
  • Experience in Electric Power, Rail, Marine, Mining, or Petroleum industries
  • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting skills utilizing multimeters, current clamps, oscilloscopes
  • Experience with automotive or industrial communications protocols (CAN, ethernet, Modbus, etc)

Nice to have

  • Experience with Vector CANape and CANalyzer
  • Harness design experience
  • Experience calibrating or interpreting engine performance maps
  • Experience interacting directly with customers and end users
