Electrical Validation - LPDDR5 and DDR5
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.
THE PERSON:
As a Systems Design Engineer, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards Product development, definition, and root cause resolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and develop IO electrical validation requirements and test coverages to ensure compliance and success at the platform level for Memory and HSIO interfaces like PCIe , Etherntet
- Develop and Execute comprehensive validation plans, as per schedules by integrating inputs from various engineering and Contract workers
- Conduct hands-on measurement and characterization of Post-Si IO electrical interfaces using advanced lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, TDR, VNA, and more.
- Plan and execute SI/PI validation for next-generation interconnects (PCIe Gen6/7, 224G Ethernet, optical/copper channels, Memory - LPDDR5/6 , DDR5 , DIMM technologies)
- Own and drive the debugging of Post-Si electrical issues, collaborating with hardware, BIOS, firmware, and OS teams to recommend effective solutions.
- Own the Compliance, Cert and EV for the respective interfaces
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5-8 years of experience in hardware architecture, logic/circuit design, and implementation.
- Experience with Memory JEDEC standards for LPDDR5 and DDR5, PCIe4/5, 25G Ethernet, 56G PAM4 Serdes characterzation
- Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).
- Extensive experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy .
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details
- Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion
- Debug techniques and methodologies, Good experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
