This role is for an Electrician 1st Class responsible for performing electrical and electronic repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment installation on production equipment within a manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to read blueprints, handle ESD components, solder, and work with various electrical testing equipment. It involves working on live circuits with safety precautions and maintaining electrical systems including programmable controllers. The role is part of a union environment and requires compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs electrical and electronic repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment installation and modifications to a wide variety of production equipment with limited supervision.
  2. Be able to determine wire and cable size requirements by calculating voltage, amperage, wattage, resistance, etc.
  3. Be able to diagnose motor and motor control troubles and correct by repairing or replacing parts.
  4. Operate all testing equipment such as Voltage testers, Voltmeters, Ammeters, Ohmmeters, Wattmeters, etc.
  5. Install, maintain, and repair electronic control circuits and equipment, photoelectric cell circuits, level controls, etc.

Skills

Required

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability and experience using a PC, software such as Microsoft Office Suite, and navigating in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player, and be able to work with minimum technical supervision
  • Arc Flash training
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license

Nice to have

  • Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates degree
  • Formalized vocational, technical, or apprenticeship training with applicable experience
  • Prior experience in GMP, ISO, and QSR or other regulated industry
