Electrified Powertrain Control Systems Engineer at Ford responsible for developing control system work products, performing system level testing, analyzing vehicle CAN communication data, and supporting functional safety tasks for hybrid and electric powertrains. The role involves root cause investigation and resolution of quality issues, with opportunities in system simulation modeling and leveraging connected vehicle data. Experience with control system design, vehicle systems, and powertrain systems is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop Electrified Powertrain Control System work products that coordinate actions and functions between modules and subsystems to meet vehicle level and Feature attributes such as:
  2. Perform System level testing in vehicle, on breadboard or using Software/Hardware in the Loop
  3. Analyze vehicle CAN communication data and ECU diagnostics
  4. Submit CAN Network Interface Design (NID) requests to identify CAN signals transmitted and received by the Hybrid Powertrain Control Modules (HPCM)
  5. Support Functional Safety tasks where necessary

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in control system design or calibration
  • 3+ years' experience with vehicle systems and/or vehicle level attributes
  • 3+ years' of experience in powertrain systems, components and electrified vehicles

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electromechanical and software systems
  • Ability to manage/resolve urgent launch/Quality concerns
  • Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion to improve customer satisfaction
  • Very effective ability to explain technical details and gain alignment and consensus on solutions.
  • Understanding of programing languages and tools (C , Matlab, Simulink etc)
  • Experience with data recording tools (ATI, CANalyzer)
