Electronics Test and Evaluation Lab Technician (senior or Lead)

This role supports the Air Force Research Lab in advancing Space Domain Awareness capabilities using ground-based telescopes at the Starfire Optical Range. The technician will plan, conduct, and document complex tests on products, systems, and components, design and fabricate test systems, and troubleshoot laboratory and test-related problems. Experience with lasers, optical alignment, electronics, and mechanical systems is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plans, conducts and documents complex tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies.
  2. Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies.
  3. Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities.
  4. Conducts system test preparations by guiding system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown.
  5. Performs test article configuration control.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment
  • Willing and able to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Nice to have

  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Experience assembling lab prototypes, chassis wiring, and mechanical mounting based on schematics, drawings, and system requirements
  • Experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems
  • Experience with high power lasers
  • Experience with optical alignment techniques
  • Experience with electronics/electrical systems
  • Experience with mechanical systems
