About the Role
Partners with stakeholders and drives team efforts to design, develop, and maintain complex user interfaces and features for web and backend applications that meet the design, functionality, and complexity needs of end users.
Uber Eats is our food delivery platform that makes getting great food from your favorite local restaurants as easy as requesting a ride. As a full stack engineer on the Engagement Growth team within Uber Eats, you’ll be building amazing design and data-driven features for eaters, delivery partners, and new verticals to help grow the business. The goal of these products is to provide affordable everyday options and optimal experiences for all sides of the Eats marketplace. You will continually strive to unlock greater efficiency and revenue for courier/restaurant partners, and improve the overall efficiency of the UberEats marketplace.
The role would entail strong partnership with cross functional teams across Delivery to drive deeply collaborated initiatives, build frameworks and solutions that help drive the long term strategy for the business.

What the Candidate Will Do
- Building features at scale by writing maintainable and extensible code with high quality tests and documentation for the Engagement Growth team at Uber
- Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and maintain code quality standards to ensure the reliability and maintainability of the web and backend codebase.
- Troubleshoot issues reported by users or identified during testing, and work towards timely resolution.
- Understand and use existing systems efficiently, contributing to them where necessary
Basic Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 2-3+ years of experience in professional software development experience, developing and deploying systems in production environments
Technical skills:
Required:
Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML
- Solid experience in core front-end technologies, enabling the development of responsive and accessible web interfaces.
Expertise in Modern Web Application Frameworks
- Hands-on experience with frameworks such as React, Angular etc, including component-based architecture and state management.
Strong UX Sensibility
- Ability to form and advocate for strong opinions on user experience, with meticulous attention to detail in matching implemented UI to design specifications.
Understanding of Distributed Systems and Microservice Architectures
- Familiarity with scalable, resilient backend systems, service-oriented architecture, and inter-service communication patterns.
API Design Skills
- Experience designing clean, maintainable, and efficient RESTful or GraphQL APIs, with a focus on usability, versioning, and documentation.
Here are some other basic qualifications for this role:
- Good understanding of software experimentation philosophy in the earlier work with an understanding of setting up A/B experiments for hypothesis testing.
- Build instrumentation in the experiments, understand and mine insights, and investigate these to help product with data-driven decisions from experimentation.
- Strong communication skills, experience working with stakeholders including product managers, design and user research
- Ability to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly
- Previous experience working on full-stack development including API design and front-end user experience
- Previous experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, etc
Preferred Qualifications
Technical skills:
- Embedded webviews
- Familiarity with Go
Other preferred qualifications:
- Previously led projects with multiple engineers, teams to develop consumer experiences across a range of platforms and use-cases
- Previous experience designing experiments, and developing measurement strategies
- Experience working on multiple platforms
- Prior experience developing software at a company with a two or three-sided marketplace
- Has a growth mindset or past experience working at Growth teams
- Experience developing for mobile
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
